About Meliadine and Our Nunavut Operations
Over the next two years, Agnico Eagle will hire over 1,000 people across our Nunavut mining operations to help us bring two new sites into production. Meliadine is now under construction and is expected to begin operating in late 2019. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. The site will feature a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex. We expect to operate Meliadine for at least 14 years and we will need to hire over 900 people to help us mine this rich new deposit.
Reporting to the Meliadine IT Coordinator, the Telecommunications Specialist will be a member of the IT department and collaborate with other departments of the mine to ensure that IT needs are met for internal clients. The incumbent will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Your Next Challenge:
Repair, install, configure and maintain Meliadine telecommunication installations;
Installation of fiber optics, cabling, antennas, radio systems, telecommunication towers, television distribution systems, music broadcast systems, microwave links, satellite links or any other electronic devices that differ from regular IT Support;
Provide technical support to internal clients.
What You Need To Succeed:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications field;
College degree with a specialization in telecommunications or equivalent work experience;
General knowledge of RF basics (spectrum analyzer, filtration devices, modulation, etc);
Strong ability to work without supervision and a strong capacity for teamwork are essential;
Available for travel to the site in Nunavut;
Excellent writing and verbal skills in English;
Office software knowledge: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access) essential;
Knowledge or experience in managing Sepura radios (TETRA) an asset;
Amateur Radio Certification an asset.
Your Work Schedule
Schedule: 14/14 days of work, followed by 14/14 days for transportation and rest; Flights departing from Mirabel or Val d’Or, Quebec (possibility of 7/7 schedule in the future).
