Development and Peace is one of the leading Canadian international development NGOs and the official international solidarity organization of the Canadian Catholic Church. With annual revenues of more than 40 million dollars, the organization supports local partners located in several countries of the Global South. With a network of members across Canada, Development and Peace raises the awareness of Canadians about the causes of worldwide poverty and injustice and mobilizes Canadians around actions for change.
Reporting to the Director of the Department, the Communications and Public Relations Advisor carries out a number of communications tasks related to the overall needs of the organization and its various departments. The task is to build the organization's visibility and to foster a public image consistent with its objectives.
To respond to requests for information and to promote Development and Peace with various publics through the mass media;
To see to the promotion of the organization's activities and programs and to actively participate in launching and implementing its campaigns and special activities (e.g. Share Lent, fall campaign, emergency relief, the Orientation Assembly, etc.);
To contribute to the development of the organization's image, recognition factor and marketability;
To assist the Director of the Department in the design and implementation of internal and external communications programs and initiatives;
To design and prepare audiovisual, print and website materials for internal and external consumption;
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or the equivalent
Command of written and oral French and English
Capacity to revise, and correct texts
Software and computer programs
Mastery of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Four years of relevant experience in communications, fundraising and coordinating events
Good knowledge of the media and cultural realities
Available to travel in Canada and abroad
Available for occasional evening and weekend work
Entry salary between $ 57,000 and $ 62,000 per year depending on experience and the number of languages mastered and required by the position
35 hours work week
