About our nunavut operations
Over the next two years, Agnico Eagle will hire over 1,000 people across our Nunavut mining operations to help us bring two new sites into production. We currently operate the Meadowbank mine near Baker Lake and by late 2019, we plan to open the nearby Amaruq deposits and our Meliadine mine, which is located northwest of Rankin Inlet. These sites are supported by our service hubs in Val-d’Or and Mirabel, Quebec. We currently employ over 1,500 people across these locations and plan to hire an additional 1,000 to help us bring these exciting properties into production.

Your next challenge :

The IT Technician reports to IT Coordinator and works in close collaboration with his/her team members, as well as members of the other departments. The incumbent is primarily responsible for the first line (Level 1) support of the Meliadine division, as well as following technical instructions from Level 2 (IT Analysts). The IT Technician ensures goals and objectives are attained, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s company culture, health and safety code of conduct and the environment.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically;
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues;
  • Research questions using available information resources;
  • Advise user on appropriate action;
  • Follow standard help desk procedures;
  • Log interactions and administer help desk software (GLPI and C2);
  • Identify and escalate situations to IT Analysts if technically complex or if it requires urgent attention;
  • Maintain the IT inventory by ordering and receiving the materials;
  • Maintain the division’s printers fleet;
  • Create and maintain user accounts;
  • Configure VHF/UHF radios;
  • Configure Cisco IP phones and mailboxes;
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and training with regards to IT operations. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • College degree in Information Technology;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in IT Customer Support;
  • Mastering of MS Windows and MS Office Suites;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft SCCM;
  • Excellent knowledge of Xerox and HP printers;
  • Strong knowledge of radio communications and pagers;
  • Strong knowledge of networking and VLAN configuration;
  • Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software;
  • Strong knowledge of FM radio broadcasting, CATV distribution and satellite communication;
  • Strong organizational skills, self-governing and ability to work under pressure;
  • C2, ERP System (J.D. Edwards), amateur radio certification and knowledge in audio/video installation are considered valuable assets;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).
Your work schedule
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hour work week based out from Mirabel or Val-D’Or, Québec.
