FLYING WHALES

For its LCA60T program, FLYING WHALES QUÉBEC is looking for a

Engineering Professional, Hybrid Electric Propulsion System Performance (EHPPS)

WHO WE ARE

FLYING WHALES is an extraordinary industrial adventure.

Today we're designing, and tomorrow we'll be building and operating a fleet of LCA60T airships for cargo transport. Capable of loading and unloading up to 60 tonnes of cargo (wind turbine blades, heavy equipment, wood, mobile hospital, etc.) in hovering flight, with a reduced environmental footprint, this transport system is unprecedented.

At FLYING WHALES, we have an ambitious vision that today brings together over 200 pioneers and some 40 partner companies. Pioneers of the 21st century, who every day contribute their desire, passion and know-how to give birth to a new transport solution, but also to an idea. The idea that companies must be able to continue creating links in order to grow.

This is the mission that FLYING WHALES has set itself : to open up isolated regions of the world, while helping to reduce CO2 emissions in the transport sector with a low-carbon aircraft.

Would you like to be part of the team that will write a new page in the history of aeronautics?

The position is part of FLYING WHALES' Power Systems department, which is responsible for the development of on-board electrical energy generation, distribution, storage and management systems (generators, batteries, distribution, wiring and power management logic).

Within this department, you will be in charge of analyzing electrical network performance.

YOUR MISSIONS :

  • We are looking for an electrical engineering specialist with proven experience in the on-board electrical power generation and distribution industry (automotive, naval, rail, aerospace...), to participate in the design of a 4MW electrical system, primarily responsible for the characterization and integration of the hybrid electric primary power system (EHPPS) in the airship.
  • Establish models for the turbogenerator and power system to understand its dynamic behavior and degraded modes.
  • Analyze performance at component and system level, under steady-state and transient conditions.
  • Use their models to guarantee the performance and behavior of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Develop, maintain and improve tools for parameterization and automatic evaluation of simulations.
  • Contribute to the development of control loops for the EHPPS (Electric Hybrid Primary Power System) : evaluate system behavior, summarize results and propose improvements.
  • Model and contribute to the development of the EHPPS control system by refining the requirements imposed on flight control computers or component controllers.
  • Help integrate the various EHPPS building blocks by carrying out the following tasks :
