Desjardins acquired The Insurance Company of Prince Edward Island (ICPEI) in 2024, and is now seeking to build a commercial lines property and casualty insurance brokerage firm that’s backed by Desjardins Group’s financial strength and lineup of products and services. Your role is to capitalize on the exceptional potential of the firm’s connection to Desjardins Group to drive growth for brokerage insurance. You’ll have the opportunity to generate a significant volume of high-quality referrals for our partner brokers and ICPEI, while developing Desjardins’s support offer. By strengthening relationships with our strategic brokers and financial partners, you’ll play a key role in our continued success. Your passion for business development and strategic collaboration will come in handy, along with your strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the management and performance of broker referrals, including applying service standards, sending referrals to brokers, business rules, monitoring performance, and managing dissatisfaction.
- Advance business development for property and casualty insurance via brokerage at Desjardins.
- Head up specialized business development to seize opportunities that fit ICPEI’s risk appetite for medium-sized and large businesses. Establish strong and trusting relationships with Desjardins Group’s specialized networks and act as their main point of contact.
- Work with the Direct Insurance, Commercial Lines Division to seize opportunities with micro-enterprises and SMEs by adapting the way we handle referrals from Desjardins Business centres, the Business Services Centre, and the Desjardins Agent Network (DAN).
- Work with ICPEI to adjust their offer and risk appetite to insure more Desjardins members and clients.
- Sit on internal Desjardins business development committees.
- Develop Desjardins Group’s offer for brokers by taking advantage of our broader lineup of products and services.
- Establish strategic partnerships with key ICPEI brokers.
- Represent Desjardins externally at broker events to build strong relationships.

What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience, including six years in management.
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience in business development.
- Knowledge of French is required.
- Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients.
- Knowledge of property and casualty insurance brokerage networks.
