Position Overview

The Infrastructure Administrator at Stella-Jones is responsible for managing and optimizing our AWS-based and on-premises IT infrastructure, supporting reliable operations across 100 facilities in the U.S. and Canada from our headquarters in Montreal. This role plays a key part in strengthening our proactive approach to infrastructure management by maintaining critical systems, managing backups, and contributing to enterprise-wide projects. The Infrastructure Administrator works across AWS, Windows servers, and enterprise networks, tackling complex technical challenges and enhancing system performance, security, and scalability.

This is a newly created role driven by company growth and will be hybrid (typically 1-2 days a week in office) based at our corporate HQ in Montreal (Saint-Laurent).

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Systems Administration :

• Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure, including creating and configuring EC2 instances including knowledge of AWS Native tools such as GuardDuty, CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Monitoring and managing hybrid infrastructure through Azure Arc, utilizing Azure policies and role-based access control (RBAC) for governance.
• Administer Microsoft Windows server environments, supporting enterprise operations from headquarters and remote sites.
• Implement, monitor, and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data.
• Support Azure Identity Protection and related cloud security services to protect corporate systems.

Network Administration & Security :

• Manage and troubleshoot network hardware, including switches, routers, and firewalls, to support manufacturing operations and corporate connectivity.
• Configure and monitor network protocols such as TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN to ensure secure and efficient data flow across facilities.
• Collaborate with security teams to integrate best practices and ensure network security for operations in both the U.S. and Canada.
• Deploy and maintain wireless solutions using Ubiquiti and Cisco Meraki technologies to support plant operations and corporate offices.

Technical Support & Issue Resolution :

• Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, delivering effective solutions to support critical infrastructure across all facilities.
• Provide remote and on-site support to end-users in manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and corporate offices across the U.S. and Canada.
• Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations and troubleshooting procedures.

Collaboration, Projects, & Continuous Improvement :

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including plant operations, IT security, and application support, to meet business and manufacturing needs.
• Participate in infrastructure projects such as system upgrades, cloud migrations, and network expansions to support business growth.
• Contribute to department initiatives that enhance system performance, security, and scalability.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs offered within the IT department.
• Help foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a focus on knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications :

• Five (5) or more years of related IT experience required; 8 or more years preferred.
• AWS experience with proven ability to create and manage EC2 instances and administer AWS-based infrastructure.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Azure services like Azure Resource Manager, Azure Active Directory, virtual networks, storage, and compute.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments (on-premises and cloud-based).
• Experience managing network hardware, including switches, routers, and firewalls, with a solid understanding of protocols such as TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Experience implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Ability to travel 4 to 6 times per year within the U.S. and Canada.

L’Administrateur(trice) Systèmes et Infrastructure travaille sur AWS, les environnements serveurs Windows et les réseaux d’entreprise, en relevant des défis techniques complexes et en améliorant la performance, la sécurité et la scalabilité des systèmes.

Ce poste a été créé en raison de la croissance de l’entreprise et sera hybride (1 à 2 jours par semaine au bureau), basé à notre siège social à Montréal (Saint-Laurent).

Responsabilités principales

Administration des infrastructures TI et infonuagiques :

• Gérer et maintenir l’infrastructure AWS, notamment la création et la configuration des instances EC2 ainsi que l’utilisation des outils natifs AWS tels que GuardDuty, CloudWatch et CloudTrail.
• Surveiller et administrer l’infrastructure hybride via Azure Arc, en appliquant les politiques Azure et le contrôle d’accès basé sur les rôles (RBAC) pour la gouvernance.
• Gérer les environnements serveurs Windows, en supportant les opérations TI pour le siège social et les sites distants.
• Mettre en place, surveiller et maintenir les solutions de sauvegarde et de reprise après sinistre pour protéger les données critiques.
• Assurer le support des services de sécurité infonuagique Azure Identity Protection et d’autres solutions pour renforcer la cybersécurité des systèmes corporatifs.

Administration réseau et sécurité :

• Gérer et optimiser les infrastructures réseau, y compris les commutateurs, routeurs et pare-feu, pour assurer une connectivité fiable des sites manufacturiers et corporatifs.
• Configurer et surveiller les protocoles réseau (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) afin d’assurer un flux de données sécurisé et performant.
• Collaborer avec les équipes de cybersécurité afin d’intégrer les meilleures pratiques et assurer la protection des réseaux au Canada et aux États-Unis.
• Déployer et maintenir des solutions sans fil avec les technologies Ubiquiti et Cisco Meraki pour soutenir les opérations des usines et des bureaux corporatifs.

Support technique et résolution de problèmes :

• Agir comme point d’escalade principal pour les incidents techniques complexes, en proposant des solutions adaptées à l’infrastructure critique.
• Offrir du support à distance et sur site aux utilisateurs finaux dans les usines, centres de distribution et bureaux corporatifs au Canada et aux États-Unis.
• Surveiller la performance des systèmes et détecter proactivement les problèmes afin de minimiser les interruptions.
• Documenter précisément les configurations d’infrastructure et les procédures de dépannage.

Collaboration, projets et amélioration continue :

• Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les équipes des opérations manufacturières, de la cybersécurité et du support applicatif afin de répondre aux besoins technologiques de l’entreprise.
• Participer aux projets stratégiques d’infrastructure, tels que les mises à niveau des systèmes, migrations vers le cloud et expansions réseau.
• Contribuer aux initiatives du service qui visent à optimiser la performance, la sécurité et l’évolutivité des infrastructures TI.

Qualifications :

• Minimum de cinq (5) ans d’expérience en TI pertinente; huit (8) ans ou plus préférés.
• Expérience confirmée avec AWS, y compris la gestion des instances EC2 et l’administration des infrastructures infonuagiques.
• Connaissance approfondie des services Azure, tels que Azure Resource Manager, Azure Active Directory, réseaux virtuels et solutions de stockage.
• Expérience significative avec les environnements serveurs Windows (sur site et dans le cloud).
• Expérience en gestion d’infrastructure réseau (commutateurs, routeurs, pare-feu) et maîtrise des protocoles réseau (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Expérience dans l’implantation et la gestion de solutions de sauvegarde et de reprise après sinistre.
• Certification AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator ou Cisco CCNA (un atout).
• Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais requise.
• Capacité à voyager 4 à 6 fois par année au Canada et aux États-Unis.
