Opal International is looking for a friendly, thorough, and organized individual with a desire to work in the garment and textile industry, specifically as it pertains to uniforms, outerwear, and work-wear. This position requires flexibility and curiosity to perform a variety of different tasks, including the creation and translation of technical specifications, clear communication with factories and clients, research into unfamiliar textiles / garment features, well-organized storage (digital and physical), and careful quality / fit checks.ResponsibilitiesReading, translating, and creating technical specifications.Communicating clearly with clients and factories in French and English by email, telephone, and in person.Reading and interpreting contracts and official documents (largely in French).Researching technical fabric qualities and specialized garment features.Conducting fittings.Storing and organizing detailed information for swift, convenient, and intuitive retrieval later on.Storing and organizing physical samples.Quality-checking samples to ensure full compliance with technical specifications.Researching new suppliers.Following up with suppliers daily to check work progress and meet deadlines.Keeping track of a large number of different projects (deadlines, suppliers, and other useful information) over a long period of time.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role (e.G. garment technology, project management / coordination in the clothing / textile industry, garment imports / manufacturing / quality control).Relevant secondary education preferred.SkillsEssential : Languages : English and French.Software : Working knowledge of Excel, Adobe PDF, and Adobe Illustrator.Meticulous attention to detail.Patience.Methodical approach to tasks, problem-solving, and organization.Resourcefulness.Preferred : Able to carry out small, neat repairs and alterations on a domestic sewing machine and by hand.Computer savvyWorking ConditionsYou will be working in the office Monday to Friday with 1-3 colleagues.This is a close-knit company, meaning your opinion will be valued and any questions / issues raised will be addressed immediately.Starting salary dependent on experience.Please note : The day-to-day work in the office will be in English, but conversing, reading, and writing in French is required in many situations, including those involving technical jargon about the industry.
