Job Description : The Data Co. is seeking a skilled LookML Developer / Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in LookML development, data modelling, and creating custom visualizations.This role involves not only creating dashboards, dimensions, and measures but also implementing performance enhancements and advanced visualizations beyond Lookers out-of-the-box capabilities.Key Responsibilities : Develop and Maintain LookML ModelsCreate and maintain LookML models, including dimensions, measures, and dashboards. Optimize LookML code for performance, scalability, and ease of use across the organization, leveraging AI tools for code generation and optimization where appropriate.Custom Visualizations : Design and implement custom JavaScript visualizations and integrate them into Looker to extend functionality beyond the standard visualizations provided by Looker.AI-Enhanced Development : Utilize AI-powered tools to automate repetitive coding tasks, optimize LookML models, and refactor SQL queries for better performance. Leverage AI in debugging and testing to improve code quality and reduce development time.Performance Optimization : Implement caching mechanisms, pre-calculated data, and other performance enhancements to ensure fast rendering of dashboards and visualizations. Continuously monitor and tune LookML models and workflows to improve performance and minimize latency, using AI-driven insights for optimization.API Integration : Utilize Lookers API to fetch data and integrate it with custom front-end visualizations. Ensure seamless integration of Looker data with external applications and systems.Embedding and Theming : Embed Looker dashboards and visualizations within our web app and apply custom themes and styling to Looker dashboards.Collaboration : Work closely with the development team to ensure that Looker visualizations integrate seamlessly into web portals and internal tools. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their analytics needs and translate them into actionable data models and visualizations.Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation for LookML models, custom visualizations, and integrations, ensuring knowledge sharing across the team.Troubleshooting and Debugging : Diagnose and resolve issues related to LookML models, dashboards, and custom visualizations. Implement monitoring and alerting systems for proactive detection of potential issues, using AI-based tools to expedite the process.Preferred Skills & Experience : LookML Development : Proven experience designing and optimizing LookML models.Custom Visualizations : Strong experience with JavaScript for creating custom visualizations in Looker.API Integration : Familiarity with Lookers API and integrating Looker with front-end applications.Performance Optimization : Knowledge of caching techniques, data pre-calculation, and performance tuning for Looker models and dashboards.Styling & Theming : Experience in theming and styling Looker dashboards to match company branding.Data Modeling & SQL : Strong knowledge of data modeling, SQL, and schema design to ensure scalable and efficient LookML models.Cloud & Frontend Exposure (Nice to Have) : Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, serverless computing, or modern frontend frameworks.AI and Machine Learning (Nice to Have) : Experience leveraging AI in the development process, including code generation, performance optimization, and automated debugging. Familiarity with integrating machine learning models into Looker environments for predictive analytics and advanced visualizations.LocationWhile we are open to remote work, we prefer candidates based in Canada, with a strong preference for those in Montreal.Our office at 3500 De Maisonneuve W in Westmount, QC, is in a prime location that blends convenience with a vibrant work environment.
