LeverageTek is actively seeking an IT Security Analyst (Azure) for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Work Location

The successful candidate will be required to work 1x / week on-site at the customer location in Ottawa.

Key Tasks

• Responsible for performing security operations necessary to respond to potential cyber threats, and to improve the overall security posture of enterprise cloud systems and applications.
• Work with Microsoft cloud security systems and associated cloud platforms, including Entra, Defender for Cloud and Microsoft 365, and Sentinel, to respond to security alerts and incidents, and work proactively towards improving security posture.
• Perform investigations to identify and respond to potential threats.
• Review email security investigations and user-reported phishing.
• Manage policy controls for security of cloud applications.
• Interface with end-users to help resolve security-related questions and incidents.
• Assist team members responding to client service requests and provide support and guidance to other Technology Solutions teams.
• Collaborate with peers and other teams regarding implementation of best practice security configurations and troubleshoot performance issues and incidents.
• Monitor for security vulnerabilities and weaknesses across the enterprise and support their timely resolution to help protect from cyber threats.
• Develop, implement, and improve automation of operations tasks for faster and more efficient completion of security-related activities.
• Develop, implement, and improve system policies and controls that help automate alerting and blocking related to potentially malicious user and system activities.
• Remain up to date with the latest security threats and trends and provide recommendations to adjust security measures accordingly.
• Provide high level quality client services to both internal and external clients by responding in a timely, respectful, and constructive manner.
• Assist Technology Solutions and other business teams with the implementation, security, and availability of new applications, cloud services, and technologies.

Key Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT security-related professional experience.
• 5+ years of security operations experience in Azure and / or Microsoft Defender.
• Recent experience performing security operations in Azure and Microsoft 365.
• University degree in Computer Science / Engineering or College diploma.
• Experience with pipeline-based deployment in Azure, including infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and Microsoft 365 security platforms and configurations, including Sentinel.
• Knowledge of Terraform, Azure Kubernetes (AK), Docker.
• Experience with network security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention systems, and vulnerability scanners.
• Experience with incident response and security investigation.
• Experience deploying services and infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of staff to explain and enforce security measures.
• Member / client / stakeholder focus with strong interpersonal skills.

Assets

• Azure security certifications.
• Knowledge of scripting languages, such as PowerShell or KQL.
• Bilingual – English / French.
