Job summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, IT and Cybersecurity of Canada Lands Company (CLC), you will be the Manager of the Technology and Information (IT) department (6 people) of the Old Port of Montreal Corporation (OPMC).

As a member of the Old Port of Montreal management committee and a member of the Information Technology Shared Services management team, you are responsible for executing the implementation and management of information technology systems, security, services, support and resources, and supporting the strategy, goals and business objectives of the OPM (Old Port of Montreal) and CSM (Montreal Science Centre) business units.

Leading a team of IT professionals, the incumbent is responsible for managing and organizing the daily operational activities of the IT department, supervising the data center, the interconnectivity to other CLC regional offices, managing the attraction systems of the Old Port of Montreal and the Science Centre, and carrying out IT projects and initiatives in an effective and efficient manner.

The position works closely with business leaders and decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

OPMC is part of Canada Lands Company, a self-financing federal Crown corporation specializing in real estate, development and management of attractions such as the CN Tower and Parc Downsview Park.

Main responsibilities

Projects (40%)

  • Manage the implementation of new system installations, expansions, modifications, and migrations, including allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, and system development lifecycle activities. Ensure the clear capture of business requirements, the provision of functional deliverables, and other factors necessary for success;
  • Manage in-house and 3rd party custom application development projects; coordinate integration testing, user acceptance testing, end user training, and rollout;
  • Support annual 3rd party internal and external penetration tests, and contribute to remediation plans to ensure timely remediation of security gaps and omissions;
  • Participate in the Company RFP process for the solicitation of IT-related services and solutions. Contribute to the development of the RFP requirements and evaluation matrix along with participating in a cross-functional evaluation committee to ensure equity and fairness in the selection process;
  • Be accountable for purchasing, invoice processing, inventory management functions, and related controls for the IT department, including vendor negotiation, obtaining quotes, preparation of purchase orders and service agreements.

Operations and service management (40%)

  • Manage activities at primary data centre and disaster recovery data centre, to ensure system performance levels and availability meet business needs;
  • Manage the deployment, day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Old Port of Montréal and Science Centre's attraction systems, including all point-of-sale systems (ticketing, IMAX, parking, marina), enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, human resources information systems, intranet, reporting and telecommunication systems;
  • Ensure operating viability of all networks across the Company for all hours of operation; routinely lead system tuning exercises for optimum performance;
  • Support the internal and external audit process and response to auditor's requirements pertaining to the day-to-day operation & change management of all systems;
  • Supervise the configuration, operation and documentation of server backups, recovery procedures, data replication schedules, and retention policies for all virtual and physical environments, including procedures for disaster recovery planning;
  • Provide oversight of preventive maintenance and asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Human resources management (20%)

  • Manage IT resourcing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling (on call, weekends, and preventive maintenance), employee development, education programs, employee evaluation, and performance management;
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise IT team members on their roles, responsibilities, participation, and contributions; influence them to be proactive and to take accountability for their assigned work, producing deliverables according to specification;
  • Build a training plan for the IT team to expand their skillsets and competencies, with a focus on relevant industry certifications;
  • Support tactical initiatives such as Accessibility, DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) within the business unit;
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing, Capital and Operating budgeting, and budget review.
  • Experiences & knowledge required

  • University degree or college diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, Business Management is preferred, or equivalent experience; (MBA an asset)
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in an information systems environment, coupled with a minimum of three to five (3 to 5) years of progressive management experience;
  • Proven experience in wired and wireless IT network and infrastructure planning, development, implementation, and management;
  • Working knowledge of current infrastructure protocols, and standards, including Active Directory, SQL Server, and virtual computing;
